I'm having trouble getting my 2nd monitor to work. Here's some details.

Standard VGA plugs into monitor (LG Flatron W2243S) Cable also plugs into a DVI-D dual-link adapter which plugs into a port on my graphics card. My graphics card is an AMD Radeon r9 200.

This card has two graphics ports, One is a DVI-D dual link as mentioned above and the other is a DVI-I dual link. Currently I only have the DVI-I port working. Both my monitors are the same make. I'm using Windows 8.1. According to LG's web page these monitors drivers do not support windows 8.1 (but I doubt that's the real problem- I could always be wrong, I'm just a silly consumer at the end of the day). Only one adapter is detected in my device manager list (DVI-I). DxDiag crashes when searching for hardware if my second monitor is plugged in (second monitor = the one not being detected).

The monitor goes into power saving mode when started up while plugged in. According to LG's website this indicates that the connection to the port is wrong. I think this means my monitors drivers don't support 8.1 or the adapter I bought is faulty, or the graphics card doesn't support 2 different adapters at once (which sounds silly, but again I really don't know much about this kinda stuff). Any ideas as to what I should do are greatly appreciated and thanks for taking the time to read. Thimblefire, You are aware that DVI-D is a digital ONLY connection. The difference between Single Link and Dual Link is that each supports varying resolutions.

DVI-D Single Link can support up to 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz. DVI-D Dual Link can support up to 2048 x 1536 at 60 Hz. DVI cables are used with new video cards for higher resolution over VGA, they are also used with new digital TV's and HD decoders. A DVI-D connector on a graphics card sends out a digital signal only, while a DVI-I connector, which carries both an analog and digital signal, can send out a digital signal (for digital displays such as flat panel LCD monitors) as well as analog signal (for older displays such as a CRT monitor) using a DVI to VGA adaptor. Some graphics cards which carry a DVI-I connector are fully compatible with flat panel LCD monitors which typically have DVI-D cables. The DVI-D cable will only read the digital signal from the DVI-I connector on the graphics card and ignore the analog signal.

If your graphics card features two video out connectors (ie VGA + DVI), it does not necessarily mean that it will support dual monitors at the same time. You probably will want to contact AMD or visit their site to find out more about the Radeon r9 200 graphics card!IFV.

Hello, I got this monitor for a while now, and I'm stuck with 1680x1050 resolution. I want It's native resolution (1920x1080). First when I switch to 1920x1080 I get my view cut off, here's a picture showing that: Second, my system thinks that my native resolution should be 1680x1050. Additional information: GPU: MSI GT 630 with the newest BETA drivers installed. The monitor's drivers are installed and It's connected via VGA cable. I don't get why, but I can use 1920x1080 resolution while playing games.
